MARIETTA, Ga. – Carey swim competed in Georgia on Saturday afternoon. The men came away with a 139-114 loss to life whilst the women lost 132-113 to Life and 130-123 to Brenau.
Both teams started off the day with wins in the 200-yard medley relay.

Eszter Kardos picked up a narrow win over Life's team by 1.7 seconds, finishing in 1:52.68.
Yusuf Balaban,
Hunter Boudreau,
Nedas Giedraitis, &
Janos Szabo then went even closer, beating out life's team by 1.61 seconds and finishing in 1:35.10.
Abigail Krott picked up her first first place finish of the day, seeing Carey pick up consecutive gold medal finishes. Krott won the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:19.24, 25 seconds ahead of Brenau's Ariel Furhman in second place.
WCU picked up two first place finishes, and two of the top three finishes, in the men's and women's 100-yard breaststroke. Picon finished first to claim gold on the women's side, beating out Petra Beky of Life by 0.48 seconds.
Brooks Sipes rounded out the top three, finishing third. Szabo claimed first on the men's side, narrowly beating out fellow Crusader Boudreau by 0.07 seconds.
Carey picked up back-to-back sweeps as they swept the 200-yard butterfly. Krott picked up her second, first place finish of the day as she pipped another Crusader, Kardos, in second place.
Nedas Giedraitis completed the sweep as he beat out second place Tyler Braly of Life, finishing in 1:55.51.
Szabo became the second Crusader to claim his second, first place individual finish on the day. Szabo picked up the gold medal finish in the 100-yard freestyle, winning by 0.69 seconds ahead of second place Leo Guleyruz.
Balaban & Boudreau then picked up the second and third first place finishes in a row for the Crusaders. They went back-to-back, claiming wins in the 200-yard backstroke & the 200-yard breaststroke. Picon & Sipes also claimed top 3 finishes in the women's 200-yard breaststroke as they finished 2
nd & 3
rd respectively.
Giedraitis & Balaban claimed two more first place finishes in back-to-back races. Giedraitis picked up his finish in the 100-yard butterfly before Balaban claimed his in the 200-yard individual medley.
Both teams finished off the day with top two finishes in the 200-yard freestyle relay. On the women's side, Kardos, Funck, Khan, & Picon claimed the gold medal finish. The Lady Crusaders knocked off the team from Life by 0.86 seconds. Szabo,

Josiah Blankenship claimed second, finishing 0.28 seconds behind the winner.
WCU Swimming are back in action on Saturday, November 8
th as they host Thomas University (Ga.). That meeting will be hosted in Biloxi, Miss. in the Biloxi Natatorium.
