A native of Leakesville, Mississippi, Justin was a right-handed relief pitcher for the Crusaders in 2003 and 2004. He attended Greene County High School and played his first two years collegiately at Jones County Junior College, helping lead the Bobcats to a Mississippi Community College state championship in 2002. A Business Administration major at William Carey, Justin became the "go-to" guy out of the bullpen for Coach Bobby Halford's Crusaders. In 2004, he set the school record for saves in a single season with 13, as well as the career saves record with 22. He also has school records for Fewest Runs Allowed in a Career (minimum 100 innings pitched) with 35 and Fewest Earned Runs Allowed in a Career with 26. He was an All- Conference selection in both 2003 and 2004 and was named an NAIA First Team All-American in 2004. Following his playing career at William Carey, Justin signed a free-agent contract with the Baltimore Orioles and played professionally for three seasons.
