HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey women's golf team posted rounds of 312, 292 and 309 to finish tied for second place at the Carey Collegiate, hosted at Canebrake Country Club.
 
The Lady Crusaders opened the tournament in third place after the first round, led by Taamtond Nivasananda, who carded a 3-over-par 75. Kenley Archer and Nawaporn Kompoj were tied for ninth, while Gracelyn Cooley finished just outside the top 10.
 
William Carey made its move during Monday afternoon's second round, climbing into second place after posting a 4-over-par team score of 292. Nivasananda shaved three strokes off her opening-round score to move into the top five individually. Archer fired a 1-over-par 73 to finish the day tied for seventh, while Sirikorn Anantathanasarn also shot a 73 to move into 10th place.
 
Cooley ended the day tied for 11th, while Kompoj was tied for 14th. Alejandra Esteban also climbed the leaderboard, moving into a tie for 16th heading into the final round.
 
The Lady Crusaders were unable to maintain their momentum on Tuesday but still secured a share of second place. Nivasananda slipped one position into a tie for fifth after a final-round 77. Cooley moved into the top 10 with a 4-over-par final round with Anantathanasarn finishing tied for 10th.
 
Esteban closed the tournament in 14th place, while Archer finished tied for 15th. Kompoj rounded out the William Carey lineup with a tie for 22nd.
 
The Lady Crusaders return to action on Monday, Oct. 5, when they travel to Dalton, Georgia, for the NAIA National Preview, hosted by Dalton State at Dalton Country Club.
