DALTON, Ga. – The William Carey University women's golf team faced one of the toughest fields of the fall season and turned in a strong performance, finishing eighth at the NAIA Fall Preview hosted by Dalton State College.
Competing against a field that featured 12 of the 17 teams ranked in the NAIA Top 25 Poll, the Lady Crusaders recorded rounds of 312, 316, and 314 over the three-round event.
Sirikorn Anantathanasarn paced William Carey throughout the tournament. The sophomore opened with a one-over-par 73 in the first round, placing her in a tie for third individually.
Kenley Archer,
Taamtond Nivasananda, and
Nawaporn Kompoj each added rounds of 79 to help the Crusaders post an opening-round score of 312.
Anantathanasarn remained inside the tournament's top 10 after carding a 77 in the second round. Archer and Nivasananda matched their opening-round performances with rounds of 79 as William Carey completed day two with a team score of 316.
The Lady Crusaders closed the tournament with a final-round 314.
Alejandra Esteban led the team on the final day with a three-over-par 75, while Nivasananda added a 77 and
Gracelyn Cooley posted an 80.
Anantathanasarn finished tied for 19th overall to lead the Crusaders, while Nivasananda added a tie for 42nd-place finish.
Carey is back in action on Monday, October 19, as they head to Lebanon, Tenn. for The Club at Five Oaks Invite.
