GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The William Carey Men's & Women's Track & Field Teams competed in the NAIA Indoor National Championship with the guys finishing in seventh place and the women finishing in eleventh place.
In the lone finals event on day one,
Ronaldo Andrews picked up the first national Championship claiming the top spot in the triple jump with a mark of 15.71m.
On Friday,
Fabiana Morales and
Kerrishma Williams started things for the women posting marks 5.79m and 5.71m in the long jump to finish in sixth and seventh place. On the track,
Barnabas Aggerh and
Jaylyn Session posted times of 6.66 and 6.69 to qualify for the 60m finals with Session also qualifying for the 200m finals.
On the final day of competition, Aggerh defended his title in the 60m dash with a time of 6.53, which broke the NAIA and facility record. Aggerh was just .01 from matching the PR he set back in January this year.
Finishing things off for WCU were Morales claiming the national championship in the triple jump with a jump of 12.31m and Session finishing in fourth place while setting a new school record in the 200m.
Salieci Myles was the final podium finisher, posting a time of 8.38 in the 60m hurdles to finish in third place.
The Crusaders will now shift their focus to the outdoor season that begins on March 14, at the Jaguar Invitational, hosted by the University of South Alabama.
