GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The William Carey Men's Indoor Track & Field Team tallied 202 points to finish in second place just ten points behind Life University at the SSAC Indoor Track & Field Championship.
On the track on Friday,
Jaylyn Session,
Barnabas Aggerh, and
Jovel Madourie got things going posting times of 21.14, 21.66, and 21.72 in the 200m to finish in second, third, and fourth place. Also, placing inside the top ten were
Damian Spencer taking sixth place with a time of 21.98 and Kapandur Dickson posting a time of 22.10 to finish in seventh place.
In the 400m, the Crusaders took third through fifth with
Mario Santin taking third with a time of 48.54,
Derrick Price placed fourth with a time of 48.62, and Dickson finishing in fifth with a time of 48.91.
Sherwayne Ashman also posted a top ten finish with a time of 49.80 to take eighth place.
Gavin Wheat posted a time of 1:58 in the 800m to finish in second place with Ben Owens posting a time of 2:00 to take fifth place. in the 5000m run,
Matthew McGuire ran of a time of 15:30 to take third with Crusaders taking second in the Distance Medley.
In the field events,
Charles Wilson posted a mark of 1.78m in the high jump to finish in sixth with
Jaxson Farmer taking seventh with a mark of 1.73. In the long jump,
Ronaldo Andrews picked up first place with a mark of 7.40m while
Charles Wilson took second place with a mark of 7.04m.
Farmer posted a mark of 6.16m to finish in fourth place with
Jaiden Hill placing eighth with a mark of 6.28m.
On Saturday, Aggerh continued his strong performance in the 60m dash, taking first place with a time of 6.58. Session finished right behind Aggerh with a time of 6.68 with Spencer finishing in sixth place.
Santin posted a time of 1:18 in the 600m to finish in second. Price posted a time of 1:19 to place fifth with Ashman finishing in seventh place.
Luke Skinner picked up a first-place finish in the 1000m posting a time of 2:30 while
Nathan Sury took second place.
Sury and Skinner flipped places in the one mile run with Sury posting a time of 4:29.15 and Skinner coming in with a time of 4:29.87. McGuire posted a time of 9:08 in the 3000m to finish in fifth with Wheat taking eighth.
In the 60m Hurdles,
Jaiden Hill posted a time of 8.57 to place sixth with the relay team of Dickson, Madourie,
Quinjerus Miles, and
Jer'Myiah Stuckey finishing in second place in the 4x400m. In the 4x800m relay, Owens, Julis Giller,
Niklas Moilanen, and Danilo posted a time of 8:21 to finish in third place.
Andrews followed up his first-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 14.62m in the triple jump to pick up his second first place finish. Wilson finished inside the top ten with a seventh-place finish with a mark of 12.66m.
Next for the Crusaders will be the NAIA National Indoor Championship being held February 27 – March 1 at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center at Celebration Pointe in Gainesville, Fla.
