HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Men's Outdoor Track & Field Team complied 186.5 points to finish in second place at the 2025 SSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
"I'm incredibly proud of our men's teams for their outstanding performances at the SSAC Track & Field Championship," said Head Coach Ryan McKenszie. The men delivered a strong showing, highlighted by a historic 4x100 meter relay victory, clocking an astonishing 40.32 seconds to set both a new conference and NAIA record. While we narrowly missed the team title by just 15 points, the effort and heart were undeniable. I'm proud of the dedication, focus, and resilience shown by all our athletes. Now, we shift our focus to Nationals next month in Marion, Indiana."
Barnabas Aggerh and
Jaylyn Session started things, going one two in the 100m posting times of 10.19 and 10.40 with Eubrig Maza taking fourth with a time of 10.50. Session and
Jovel Madourie posted times of 20.94, 21.06 to take second and third in the 200m with Aggerh just missing the podium with a time of 21.07.
Continuing the strong showing in the track events was Madourie,
Derrick Price, and Kapandura Dickson posting times of 47.61, 47.76, and 48.13 to take third, fourth, and fifth place in the 400m. In the 800m,
Luke Skinner and
Julius Giller took fourth and fifth place with times of 1:57.14 and 1:57.57 with Matthew Mcguire posting a time of 34:09 in the 10,000m to finish in fifth place.
Jaiden Hill saw a fourth-place finish in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.11 while
Jalin Brown took sixth place. In the 400m hurdles,
Mario Santin posted a time of 52.55 to finish in first place with Brown finishing in sixth.
The final track events of the championship saw the Crusaders take first place in the 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, and the 4x800m relay. The team of
Damian Spencer, Aggerh,
Ronaldo Andrews, and Session started the relays, posting a time of 39.32 in the 4x100 to set a new NAIA record with Dickson, Santin,
Sherwayne Ashman, and Price finishing the 4x400 in time of 3:12. Giller, Ashman, Skinner, and
Niklas Moilanen completed the sweep with a time of 7:53.14 in the 4x800.
Carey started the field events with a sweep in the long jump, as Maza posted a mark of 7.55m to take first place.
Royan Walters took second with a mark of 7.49m with Andrews rounding out the squad with a mark of 7.42m to finish in third place.
Maza followed his first-place finish in the long jump with a first-place finish in the triple jump, posting a mark of 14.97m. Andrews improved on his long jump finish with a mark of 14.95m to take second.
Charles Wilson nearly completed the sweep, just missing the podium with a fourth-place finish with a mark of 14.48m.
Mario Garcia wrapped things up for WCU, posting a 13.41m throw in the shot put to finish in sixth place and a second-place finish in the discus with a throw of 48.79.
