HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Crusaders move to 4–0 on the season after battling from behind twice to earn a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Williams Baptist Saturday afternoon at Danny Owens Field.
The Eagles were the first to strike, capitalizing on an uncharacteristic mistake at the back in the seventh minute. The Crusaders fought back though just before the break when
Souleymane Balde found the net for the second game in a row to level the match heading into halftime.
The second half saw Carey again fall behind when WBU was able to find the back of net in the 65
th minute to take a 2-1 lead. Just like in the first half, the Crusaders found the equalizer in the 78
th minute. After being fouled in the box,
Fernando Pirry calmly stepped up and without hesitation, converted the resulting penalty.
With the game nearing its conclusion,
Fabian Arroyo produced the decisive moment, sending a sensational free kick into the upper corner to complete the comeback.
The Crusaders are back in action Friday, September 4, as they host LSU-Alexandria. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
