WCU Archery Competes at The Vegas Shoot

4/6/2026 11:59:00 AM

The Vegas Shoot is considered to be the Super Bowl of Indoor Archery, with archers from all fifty states and over sixty countries competing. It is a three-day event with thirty arrows shot each day. The perfect score is three hundred for each day with nine hundred being the highest score for the three-day total. The Collegiate event is in the first two days with the top score from each of the four classes counting as your team score.

The William Carey Archery Team finished 2nd in the Collegiate Competition with several of the archers earning individual awards. Morgan Rives 1st in Female Compound, Emmie Purcell 1st in Female Barebow, and Valentina Villamizar 3rd in Female Recurve. The team consisted of eleven of the top archers from our team of twenty-six archers. The four archers whose combined scores that propelled us to second place were Morgan Rives, Compound, Santiago Pinilla, Recurve, Emmie Purcell, Barebow, and Julia Pryor, Bowhunter.

Morgan Rives also competed in the Championship Compound Female division where she shot a perfect 900 score. There were only five perfect scores out of over 90 female archers competing. Morgan finished 3rd in the finals shoot down.
