GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The William Carey Men's and Women's Track & Field teams turned in strong performances at the NAIA Indoor National Championships, with the men scoring 42 points to secure a fourth-place finish.
On the track for the men,
Barnabas Aggerh successfully defended his national title in the 60m, crossing the line in 6.64. Teammate
Jaylyn Session also performed well in the event, finishing in 6.77. Session later added a silver medal in the 200m with an impressive time of 21.10.
In the field events, Avery Abram cleared 1.99m in the high jump to place ninth. In the long jump,
Royan Walters earned a silver medal with a leap of 7.54m, while Romaine Lewis narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth with a mark of 7.42m. Lewis returned to claim gold in the triple jump, turning in a winning mark of 15.95m.
On the women's side,
Tyeese Smith secured a bronze medal in the 60m with a time of 7.39.
Kristina Stojanovic earned All-American honors finishing seventh in the 1000m and in the Mile posted a time of 5:16.
In the women's field events,
Kerrishma Williams came close to a podium finish, placing fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.83m. In the triple jump,
Zaniyah Wilson recorded a mark of 11.81m to finish ninth.
Both squads will now shift their focus to the outdoor season which begins on March 20, at the Bulldog Relays in Starkville, Miss.
