HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lady Crusaders put together a dominant performance Saturday morning, cruising to a 21-0 victory over Abraham Baldwin.
William Carey wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. In the fourth minute,
Livia Pertl rose above the ABAC defense and headed home a corner kick for the match's opening goal. Less than a minute later, a Fillies own goal doubled the advantage to 2-0. The offensive onslaught continued in the fifth minute when Kalyla Martin intercepted a clearance and blasted a shot from 25 yards into the top corner, giving Carey a 3-0 lead.
Linda Mustered followed with a similar strike a minute later, placing her shot just beyond the goalkeeper's reach to make it 4-0.
Paola Alvarez then found the back of the net less than a minute later, extending the lead to 5-0.
The Lady Crusaders showed no signs of slowing down.
Alba Aguado headed in a corner kick in the 12th minute, and goals from
Susan De Souza Santos and Mustered in quick succession pushed the advantage to 8-0.
Sara Aguirre and
Raquel Batalla Royo combined for another score in the 21st minute before
Paloma Paris and
Ava Gumpert added back-to-back goals to stretch the lead to 11.
For the third time in the match, Carey capitalized on a corner kick when
Sophie Magee finished off a cross from Aguirre in the 30th minute. Paris added her second goal of the day with a header in the 36th minute, and Aguirre capped the first-half scoring just before the break to give the Lady Crusaders a commanding 14-0 lead.
The second half began much like the first. Santos found the net off a corner kick from
Raquel Diaz in the 50th minute, and Martin scored her second goal of the match with a shot into the bottom corner to make it 16-0. A few minutes later, Alvarez recorded her second goal of the day before
Luana Falconeri added Carey's 18th goal in the 67th minute.
The offensive pressure continued throughout the half.
Maddie Davis set up Falconeri in the box in the 74th minute to make it 19-0, while Magee scored her second goal of the match in the 82nd minute. Gumpert closed out the scoring in the 87th minute, securing the 21-0 victory.
