HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Hattiesburg has been selected as one of the host sites for the NAIA Men's & Women's Soccer National Championship. William Carey will host the first & second rounds of the tournament November 20th – 22nd.
WCU women's soccer earned an automatic bid to the tournament after winning the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament, posting an overall record of 19-1. Men's soccer earned their way through an at-large bid, posting a record of 14-4-2.
Women's soccer will host a three-team tournament where they welcome Xavier (La.) & Campbellsville University. Men's soccer hosts a single game where they take on John Brown University.
Women's soccer hosts a three-team tournament due to them being ranked as one of the top eight seeds in the tournament. Xavier will take on Campbellsville in the First round on Thursday, November 20th. That game is scheduled for 5 PM.
This will be the third year in a row that Xavier has travelled to Hattiesburg for the first round of the NAIA National Tournament. Xavier gained an automatic bid to the tournament after winning the conference tournament for the Red River Athletic Conference. The Gold Nuggets come to Hattiesburg with an 11-2-4 overall record.
Campbellsville also earned their way into the tournament with an automatic bid. The Tigers won the Mid-South Conference Tournament and come to Hattiesburg with an overall record of 11-8.
The winner of Xavier & Campbellsville will progress to face the No.2 seed William Carey on Saturday, November 22nd at 1 PM.
On the men's side, they will host one game on Saturday, November 22nd. That game is set to get underway at 4 PM as the No. 10 seed William Carey host John Brown.
John Brown earned their way into the tournament through an at-large bid. The Golden Eagles bring an overall record of 12-4-4 to Hattiesburg.
The winners of both second-round games will progress to the final site of their respective tournaments. The women's tournament will be held at the Ashton Brosnaham Sports Complex in Pensacola, Fla. The men's side will be hosted at the Orange Beach Sports Complex in Orange Beach, Ala.
WCU Men's & women's soccer are both set to get their journey for a national championship underway on November 22nd at
Danny Owens Field. The Women will get underway at 1 PM and the men immediately following at 4 PM.
