OOLTEWAH, Tenn. – The WCU Men's Golf Team concluded the fall portion of their schedule with rounds of 295,283, and 289 to finish in second place at the Bryan College Fall Invitational.
The Crusaders got off to a shaky start in round one on Monday morning with only one golfer completing the round at par or better.
Chase Guillot was the lone golfer, posting a two under par 69. Finishing the first round just over par was Ongsa Booncharn who posted a one over 72.
Guillot continued his strong play in round two that afternoon, firing a three under par 68 to finish the day in second place at five under. Booncharn erased his one over from the first round with a three under to end the day in fifth place at two under.
Guillot and Booncharn were not the only Crusaders to improve their round one scores.
Ethan Holway improved by three shots to end the day in 18
th with
Chance Elston cutting four strokes from round one to end the day in 24
th.
WCU came out swinging in the final round Tuesday morning, firing a three under 133 on the front nine as a team to get within one stroke of the leader. Holway was leading the charge on the front nine, posting a birdie or par on the first eight holes before breaking the streak with a bogey on the ninth hole. Holway stumbled on the back nine but finished the day at even par to move up to tenth place.
Aubrey Jones made the biggest move of the day, climbing 14 spots to 21
st with a one over par.
Chance Elston turned a three over front nine into a one under par for the day to climb nine spots to 15
th. Booncharn posted a five over par in the final round but remained in fifth place. Guillot went even par on the front nine but like Holway faltered on the back nine dropping into third place with a five over par.
WCU returns to action on March 2 & 3, as they head to Semmes, Ala. to take part in the Ram Invitational at RTJ Magnolia Grove.
