HATTIESBURG, Miss. – WCU Volleyball dropped a key SSAC match-up against Mobile, falling to the Rams in straight sets Saturday afternoon at the Ben Waddle Complex.
Mobile got off to quick start in the first set jumping out to an early 8-3 lead. Carey slowed the run, battling back to within two at 11-9. The Rams quickly answered, seizing control of the set with a 10-1 run before going on to take the set 25-14.
The Rams carried that momentum into the second set again jumping out to the early lead at 7-2. From there, Mobile maintained the lead with Carey managing to cut the deficit to five on multiple occasions but could get no closer, as the Rams went on to take the set 25-15.
The Lady Crusaders came out in the third set with a renewed sense of urgency keeping things close early on. The Rams slowly started to make their move, pulling away to a 15-9 lead but WCU answered with four straight points to get within two points. That would be as close as they would get, as Mobile countered with four straight points of their own to pull away for good, taking the set 25-16.
Carey returns to the court on Tuesday, October 14, as they take on Baptist University of Florida in non-conference action. Play is set to begin at 6:00 pm at the Ben Waddle Complex.
