Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Double Digit Demolition

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – A game that left nothing to doubt, the Crusaders got an emphatic win as they saw off the Wildcats of Wiley 11-0.

Looking to get back to winning ways, Carey wasted no time getting themselves on the scoresheet in the 4th minute. Djordje Djukovic received the ball on the left hand side, beat a couple of defenders and cut inside and found Jamie Wynne. Wynne, on the run, took a touch past the Wiley defender and rifled the ball home.

Within 4 minutes and the Crusaders had doubled their lead. Alessandro Villarreal played an inch perfect through ball from deep for the on running Kolby Godbolt. Godbolt saw the Wildcat keeper coming off his line and tapped the bouncing ball over his head to make it 2-0.

Djukovic would turn from provider for scorer for Carey's third. A cross from Joshua Salas found Caoimhin McConnell at the back post. McConnell brought the ball under his spell instantly, beat the defender in front of him, and squared the ball for Djukovic to hammer home.

24 minutes, 4-0, four goal scorers. McConnell now turning provider to goal scorer. Godbolt running on to a through ball, was brought down inside the box. McConnell took the resulting spot kick, converting low to the keepers right hand side.

The rest of the half saw the Crusaders control play with Wiley only crossing the halfway line a handful of times. The Crusaders would pull the trigger 13 times in the half but were only able to convert on four of those chances.

Coming out for the second half and the Crusaders would double their lead within four minutes of the restart. A Godbolt double that sealed his hattrick, sandwiched between strikes from Wynne and McConnell, put the Crusaders 8-0 up before the 50-minute mark.

The Crusaders would see out the scoring with three more goals, all of which would be their first for the Crusaders. Markus Meincke, Milos Stajkovic, and Felix Rocca all grabbed their first goals for Carey as they completed the rout.

Plenty of goals down one end and none down the other ensured the Crusaders would finish with multiple goals and a clean sheet. Seven different goal scorers and seven different assist providers showed the amount of talent in this Crusader squad as the goals were coming from a number of different people.
