HATTIESBURG, Miss. – In a field that consisted of ten teams and sixty players with all but three of the teams appearing in the NAIA Top 25 Poll, the William Carey Women's Golf Team posted rounds 300, 289, and 304 to finish in third place in the Carey Collegiate, hosted by WCU at Canebrake Country Club.
The Lady Crusaders found themselves sitting in third place after the first round on Monday, aided by an even par 72 from
Worawalan Siwaiyapram, placing herself inside the top five. Playing as an individual in the tournament
Pattaramon Ruangrung also finished the first round in the top five with a one over par 73 with
Kayla Starr ending round in tenth place with a three over par.
Taamtond Nivasananda and Gracelyn Cooley found themselves just outside the top ten, in eleventh place after round one with both posting a four over 76.
Heading into second round action, Carey moved into second place with Siwaiyapram also moving into second with a one under 71. Jumping seven spots on the leader board was Nivasananda who came in with a three under par 69 while Ruangrung posted another one over par finish to end day one in fifth place. Starr also improved on her first-round score to move into eighth place with an even par with Cooley cracking the top ten with a three over par 75.
In the final round of play on Tuesday, the Lady Crusaders found themselves battling for second place with Texas Wesleyan but in the end the Rams took second place by one stroke. NIvasananda continued her climb up the leader board shooting an even par 72 to finish in second place to earn All-Tournament Team honors. Ruangrung also earned All-Tournament honors with a final round score of three over par to finish in fifth place. Siwaiyapram stumbled in the final round finishing in sixth place while Cooley posted her best score of the tournament, a one over par 73 to move up three spots to seventh place.
