PULASKI, Tenn. – The William Carey Women's Basketball Team left little to doubt against UT-Southern, defeating the Firehawks 90-59 Tuesday night.
It was all Carey from the start, as the Lady Crusaders outscored UTS 19-2 in the first quarter while shooting 41% from the floor. The WCU defense also took care of business limiting UT-Southern to just six percent shooting from the floor in the quarter and held them without a basket for over seven minutes.
The Carey offense continued to press the attack in the second stretching their lead to as many as 27 points before taking a 42-17 lead into the break. The hot shooting continued into the second half as the Lady Crusaders led by as many as 33 points on their way to victory.
Kolten Blakeney led the offense finishing with 22 points.
Shaneal Corpuz added 19 points and 10 rebounds with
Lauren Rowley finishing with 17 points.
WCU is back in action Saturday, January 13, as they head to Blue Mountain, Miss. to take on Blue Mountain Christian University in SSAC action. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
