BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The William Carey Women's Basketball Team wrapped up their road trip with a 66-42 win over Blue Mountain Christian University Saturday afternoon.
WCU was a little slow at the start but back to back three point baskets by
Lauren Rowley sparked a 10-0 run to give Carey a 10-2 lead with under five to play in the first quarter. The Lady Crusader offense continued their attack and would take a 19-8 lead into the second quarter, as
Rose Warren drained a three pointer just as time expired.
The Carey offense stayed hot in the second quarter, shooting just under 53% from the floor, while the defense held the Toppers to just 16% shooting from the floor to take a 39-14 lead into the break.
It was much of the same in the third and fourth quarters for the Lady Crusaders, as they lead by as many 30 points on their way to victory.
Lauren Rowley led the offense finishing with 13 points while
Rose Warren,
Kolten Blakeney, and
Jenna Garriga each finished with nine points.
WCU is back in action Tuesday, January 16, as they return home for a key SSAC contest against Mobile. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm at Clinton Gym.
