Lady Crusaders Cruise Past Middle Georgia

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Women's Basketball team picked up where they left off Thursday night, defeating Middle Georgia State 80-50, Saturday afternoon at Clinton Gym.

The Lady Crusaders got off to a quick start opening the game on a 12-3 run.  However, the hot shooting cooled off and the Knights settled in and closed the quarter outscoring Carey 13-8.  The second quarter saw MGA tie the game at 20 two minutes in but WCU responded with nine straight points.  But just like the first quarter Middle Georgia closed the gap to 37-34 heading into the break.

The Lady Crusaders once again got off to great start in the third, as Shaneal Corpuz and Lauren Rowley combined for 10 points to put Carey ahead for good 47-36.  From there WCU would take a 61-43 lead into the fourth and never looked back.

Rose Warren led the offense finishing with 18 points and 10 assists.  Lauren Rowley added 17 points while Kolten Blakeney finished with nine points and 12 rebounds.

WCU is back in action Tuesday, January 9, as they travel to Pulaski, Tenn. to take on Tennessee Southern.  Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm.
