THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Coming off a 10 day break, the William Carey Women's Basketball team picked up where they left off with a 68-50 victory over Thomas University.
The Lady Crusaders showed no signs of rust, as they built a 12-4 lead midway through the first quarter before going on to take a 18-7 lead. The Nighthawks would manage to cut the deficit to seven with under five minutes left in the second quarter but would get no closer, as Carey halted the run before taking a 29-20 lead into the break.
It was much of the same coming out of the break, as
Lauren Rowley drained a three pointer and
Rose Warren followed with a layup and the Lady Crusaders never looked back, leading by as many as 19 points on their way to victory.
Kolten Blakeney led the offense with 24 points and 11 rebounds while
Shaneal Corpuz added 14 points.
Carey is back in action Thursday, February 1, as they return home to take on Faulkner University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm at Clinton Gym.
