HATTIESBURG, Miss. - #9 William Carey Men's Soccer picked up a big non-conference win Monday afternoon, defeating William Penn University 3-0 at Danny Owens Field.
Jamie Wynne provided some early fireworks for the Crusaders, staking WCU to a 1-0 lead with a goal in the first minute of play. Things settled down a bit after that until the 23
rd minute. That's when Wynne crossed the ball from just outside the 18 yard box to
Djordje Djukovic who then tapped it passed the Statesmen keeper.
The 2-0 WCU lead would carry into the second half until Wynne picked up his second goal of the match in the 56
th minute with Djukovic picking up the assist. WPU offense kept up the attack, getting off 12 shots in the second half but the Crusader defense was up the task, limiting it just two shots on goal.
Carey is back in action Wednesday, as they take on Texas College in non-conference action. Kick-off is slated for 2:00 pm at Danny Owens Field. Â
