MOBILE, Ala. – The William Carey Men's and Women's Tennis picked up big SSAC wins against the University of Mobile Wednesday afternoon, with guys winning 6-1 and the women winning 5-2.
For the guys, Carey opened the match, taking the doubles point to take the early lead. The Rams tied the match taking the point at #1 singles. However, the Crusaders quickly seized control of the match with
Thomas Drapeau taking the point at #2 singles and then
Matt Shearer got the point at #5 singles
7-6, 6-0 to put WCU up 3-1.
Noah Rockstroh secured the win, with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at #3 singles.
Anton Magnusson and
Jean Nicolas Leblanc also won their matches at #4 singles and #6 singles.
The Lady Crusaders started just like the guys, taking the point at doubles to take the early lead.
Jordan Ortega Mendez put Carey up 2-0 with 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 victory at #1 singles. Mobile got on the board, taking the point at #2 singles. However, WCU quickly secured the win with
Sunny Logan winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 at #6 singles and
Tiffany Chang winning 6-3, 6-2 at #3 singles.
