COCHRAN, Ga. – The William Carey Volleyball team wrapped up their Georgia road trip with a straight sets victory over Middle Georgia State Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Crusaders opened the first set on an 11-4 run and never looked back taking the set 25-12. The Knights regrouped in the second set, opening on a 9-4 run, but Carey answered with four straight points to get within one point. Once again, MGA stretched the lead to five only to see WCU answer with four straights points to get back within one point.
With Middle Georgia leading 17-14, the Lady Crusaders found their rhythm closing the set on an 11-1 run to take the set 25-18. The third set went back and forth with both teams taking turns with the lead. With William Carey holding a slim 14-13 lead, they slowly started pulling away building a 22-16 lead before taking the set 25-20 and the match.
WCU is back in action Tuesday, September 13 as they travel to Montgomery, Ala. to take on Faulkner University in SSAC play. First serve is slated for 5:00 pm.
