Kelsea Weldon

Kelsea Weldon enters her 7th season as the Head Volleyball Coach for Indoor and 4th season for Beach Volleyball.

Weldon a Long Beach, California native moved to Hattiesburg to play volleyball at The University of Southern Mississippi. During her time with the Eagles, Weldon was a two-time Conference USA Setter of the Year (2009, 2011), three- time First Team All-Conference Player (2009, 2010, 2011), First Team All-Region Honorable Mention (2009), two- time First team All- Region (2010, 2011), ten-time Conference USA Setter of the Week, three-time All-American Honorable mention (2009, 2010, 2011), and named USM’s Female Student Athlete of the Year(2012). Weldon was selected as a team captain in the 2009, 2010, and 2011 seasons and helped her team win its only regular season conference championship in 2009.

Weldon began her coaching career at Oak Grove High School where she helped lead the program to four consecutive district titles. She was selected to represent the South in the All-Star game in 2014.

In 2016, Weldon led William Carey Volleyball in their inaugural season. Since that time, the Crusaders have competed in post season play four times. In 2020, the Crusaders earned their first ever bid to the National Tournament and followed that year by winning their first ever Southern States Athletic Conference Regular Season Title in 2021. Weldon has helped produce nine SSAC First-Team All-Conference Players, nine SSAC Second- Team All-Conference Players, two SSAC Freshman of the Year (2017, 2019), and a SSAC Setter of the Year (2020). Weldon was selected as SSAC’s Coach of the Year in the 2017-2018 and 2020-2021 seasons. In 2018, Weldon led WCU Volleyball in their inaugural Beach Season and finished the 2021 short season with a 6-2 record. In addition to coaching, Weldon also serves as the Assistant Compliance and Eligibility Coordinator and as an Instructor in the Physical Education and Recreation Department.  

Weldon earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Human Performance and Recreation in 2012 from The University of Southern Mississippi and a Master’s of Education Degree in Interscholastic Athletic Administration from William Carey University in 2016.

Weldon is married to Kevin Weldon and they have two sons, Kohen and Krosby.
