Eric is beginning his 13th season as a full time coach on Steve Knight's staff. He is a former WCU player (1995-2000) and a member of the 1997 GCAC Championship team which competed in the NAIA National Championship. A native of Petal, Miss., Burt graduated from Petal High School in 1995 and was a 4-year letterman in Basketball and Track for the Panthers. He is a member of the PHS 1,000 point club and still stands as the Boy's Basketball all-time leading scorer with 1,857 total career points.
He graduated from William Carey in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in History and English, then completed a Masters of Education in 2005. Eric has coached on the high school level as both a Head Coach and Assistant Coach. He was Head Coach at both North Forrest High School (2004-05) and Lamar Christian School (2010-12)Â and served his Alma Mater, Petal High School as an Assistant Coach (2009-10).Â
Coach Burt was a volunteer Assistant Coach for William Carey from 2005-07 and a Graduate Assistant from 2007-2009. He joined Coach Knight's staff as a full time Assistant Coach in 2012 and has been a coaching staff member for six SSAC Championship teams. He is responsible for day to day operations and academics for Men's Basketball and also serves as an Assistant Coach for the JV/Developmental Team. He is also responsible for working with Crusader Post Players in their individual work sessions.
Eric is the proud father of two girls, Adalynn Grace (13) and Paisley Joy (9).Â
