Crusaders Close Regular Season With 6-0 Win Over Andrew College

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey men's soccer team capped off the regular season in dominant fashion Monday afternoon, defeating Andrew College 6-0 at Danny Owens Field.

The Crusaders opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Pedro Sao Tiago capitalized on a rebound following an initial save on an Enzo Galli shot attempt. Tiago's finish gave Carey an early 1-0 advantage.

William Carey continued to control play for the remainder of the first half, applying constant pressure on the Andrew defense while limiting opportunities on the other end of the field. The Crusaders doubled their lead in the 39th minute after Josef Wilson intercepted an Andrew pass and played the ball to Jean Danitanga near the top of the box. Danitanga took one touch before firing a shot into the top corner to make it 2-0, heading into halftime.

The Crusaders maintained their attacking intensity in the second half and eventually broke through again in the 77th minute. Isaiah Harvey drove toward the end line and delivered a perfectly placed cross to Daniel Mulero, who quickly found the back of the net to extend the advantage to 3-0.

Carey added three more goals over the final eight minutes of play. In the 82nd minute, Tiago collected the ball at the top of the box and buried a shot into the bottom corner for his second goal of the match. Three minutes later, Cian Morling slipped behind the Andrew defense and headed home a cross from Tiago to stretch the lead to 5-0.

Mulero capped the scoring in the 87th minute, gathering a loose ball in the attacking third and slotting his shot underneath the Andrew goalkeeper to secure the 6-0 victory.

William Carey returns to action Friday, Oct. 30, when it hosts Mobile in the quarterfinal round of the SSAC Championship. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Danny Owens Field.
