Lady Crusaders Cruise to Victory Over BMCU

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Lady Crusaders go on the war path as they route Blue Mountain Christian 23-0.

"I'm really happy with the work the girls have put in this week." Said Head Coach Danny Owens. "We've had a great start to our conference schedule. Delighted for our girls that were able to get their first goals for William Carey today."

WCU put BMC to the sword in the first half as they were 14-0 up by half time. The Lady Crusaders weren't shy of shooting as they tested their luck 44 times in the first 45 minutes.

Carey sent themselves on the way to victory almost immediately as they opened the scoring 54 seconds into the game. Lauren Entremont found Karen Vilau inside the box on their first attack. Vilau made no mistake, finishing her chance with the first shot of the game.

Virginia Mesa got herself on the scoresheet less than two minutes later before Vilau knocked in the 3rd & 4th goal of the game to complete her hattrick in the opening 15 minutes of play.

In addition to Vilau's hattrick, Mesa, Lesley Vasquez, Natoya Atkinson, & Paloma Paris managed to bag themselves a brace.

Phoebe Whalley had the pick of the bunch in the first half with Carey's 10th. A wonderfully inviting cross from Maddie Davis found Whalley at the back post. Whalley caught the ball on the half-volley and thundered it past the Blue Mountain keeper.

Half time provided little respite for BMCU, as Carey picked up right where they left off to start the second half. 62 seconds into the half and Carey scored their 15th. Vasquez drove into the box and down the right-hand side before pulling the ball back to Alessia Navarro for the easy finish.

Lauren Entremont had a quiet first half before she managed to finally get herself on the scoresheet with a couple of tidy finishes. Entremont bagged two in two minutes with the pick of the two being a close-range finish she rifled into the roof of the net.

Mesa, Vasquez, & Atkinson all managed to complete their hattricks in the second half following their first half braces. Carey held onto the ball for the final ten minutes of the game, happy to just see out the result.

WCU are back in action Thursday, October 2nd as they travel to Mount Vernon, GA. to take on Brewton Parker College. That game is set to get underway at 4 PM CT.
