Lady Crusaders Blow Past ABAC

TIFTON, Ga. - #3 Lady Crusaders scored early and often in their conference opener, defeating Abraham Baldwin 25-0 Saturday afternoon.
 
Within five minutes Carey had a four-goal lead. Boo Mills opened the scoring in the first minute with Virginia Mesa and Karen Vilau both scoring in the fourth minute. The fourth goal came off the foot of Lauren Entremont with Mesa picking up the assist.
 
Nine minutes passed before WCU found the back of the net again. Like the goals in the fourth minute, Mesa and Vilau went back-to-back in the 14th minute to make it 6-0 Carey. Over a four-minute span, starting in the 16th minute, Raquel Diaz, Vilau, Sophie Magee, and Mesa extended the lead to ten.
 
Natoya Atkinson netted her first goal of the match in the 23rd minute with Diaz picking up her second goal in the 30th minute. Eight minutes after her first goal, Atkinson put the Lady Crusaders ahead 13-0 with Diaz completing the hat trick in the 37th minute. Atkinson also completed her hattrick in the first half with the final goal of the half.
 
Three minutes into the second half and Carey found themselves leading by seventeen with goals by Mesa and Vilau. After 53 minutes, the Lady Crusaders added goals by Mesa and Lesley Vazquez with Atkinson adding her fourth goal in the 55th minute.
 
Entremont made it 21-0 WCU with her second goal of the day in the 61st minute with Atkinson capping her day with five goals in 64th minute. Maddie Davis got in on the scoring, going back-to-back with goals in the 65th and 66th minute with Kokona Nishikawa scoring the final goal of the day in the 68th minute.
 
Carey is back in action Thursday, September 25, as they take on UT-Southern in SSAC action. Play is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. at Danny Owens Field.
