Lady Crusaders Take Home SSAC Outdoor Title

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Women's Outdoor Track & Field Team complied 232 points at the 2025 SSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships to claim their third straight SSAC Conference Title.
 
"I'm incredibly proud of our women's team for their outstanding performances at the SSAC Track & Field Championship," said Head Coach Ryan McKenzie. "They secured their third straight championship in dominant fashion, protecting our home turf with multiple event wins. A standout moment was Salieci Myles claiming her fourth consecutive 100-meter hurdles title in a blazing 13.22. I'm proud of the dedication, focus, and resilience shown by all our athletes. Now, we shift our focus to Nationals next month in Marion, Indiana."
 
The Lady Crusaders got off to a strong start in the sprints, as Denai Wilson, Tyeese Smith, and Syniah Sims went one two three in the 100m. D. Wilson clocked in with a time of 11.49 to take first place with Smith posting a time of 11.64. Sims completed the podium sweep with the third-place finish with a time of 11.89.
 
Carey followed the 100m, taking second through fourth in the 200m. D. Wilson just missed out on her second first place finish, finishing with a time of 23.43. Ja'Niya McDonald placed third, posting a time of 24.94 with Smith coming in fourth.
 
In the 400m, Jennifer Ezeoha posted a time of 56.60 to finish in second place while Maria Simancas and Maria Tirado posted times of 2:15 and 2:17 to finish in second and third place in the 800m.
 
Blanca Conesa posted a time of 4:52 in the 1500m to take second place. Isabelle Wheeler clocked in with a time of 18:57 to take first place in the 5000m and posted a second-place finish in the 10,000m with a time of 40.27.
 
Salieci Myles continued the strong showing on the track, claiming first place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.22. Fegor Clifford followed suit in the 400m hurdles, taking first with a time of 1:01 with Myles taking second place. Conesa wrapped up her day posting a time of 11:45 in the 3000 steeplechase to finish in first place.
 
Following the guys lead in the relays, the team of Smith, D. Wilson, Myles, and Sims took first place in the 4x100 with a time of 44.99 with D. Wilson, Simancas, Tirado, and Clifford also taking first place in the 4x400. Carey was unable to complete the sweep of the relays though, as Conesa, Simancas, Hannah Mitchell, and Tirado posted a time of 9:21 in the 4x800 to finish in second place.
 
In the field events, Kerrishma Williams and Zaniyah Wilson started things off with second and third place finishes in the high jump with Clifford placing fifth. Smith posted a mark of 5.66m in the long jump to finish in second place with Clifford placing third with a mark of 5.55m.
 
Clifford, Z. Wilson, and Williams picked up the second podium for Carey, as Clifford posted a mark of 12.14m to claim first place in the triple jump with Z. Wilson and Williams taking second and third.
