MOBILE, Ala. – No. 5 William Carey suffered their first loss of the season, as they fell to No. 8 Loyola University 4-2 in the championship match of the 2025 SSAC Women's Tennis Championship.
 
"An undefeated regular season with 5 top 10 wins and ranked #2 by the ITA. I thought the girls played a remarkable season," said Head Coach Marc Lux. "We had our chances today to continue our streak with match point to clinch doubles, 5:0 up at 6, 5:3 up at #2 singles but somehow it just didn't happen today. Heads up to Loyola who competed very well in this tournament and congrats for their first conference title. We will prepare for nationals and set our goals high for the event."
 
Victoria Vieten / Isabella Lechuga started things off with a 6-2 win at the #2 position in doubles but the Wolfpack evened things up with a 6-2 win at the #3 position. Tiffany Chang / Li-Hsien Lin battled against Lucy Carpenter / Chloe Henderson at the ones position but in the end, Loyola took the doubles point with a 7-5 victory.
 
LU quickly jumped out to 3-0 advantage with wins at #1 and #4 singles. Isabella Lechuga kept Carey in it with a 6-4, 7-5 victory at #3 singles with Tiffany Chang getting the Lady Crusaders within one, winning a thrilling three set victory 6-0, 3-6, 7-5. However, the Wolfpack ended any hope of a comeback with a three-set victory at #6 singles.
