NEW ORLEANS, La. – The William Carey Men's Basketball Team wrapped up the regular season with an 83-65 loss to Loyola University Saturday afternoon.
Things went back and forth at the start, but with the Wolfpack leading 13-8 with fifteen minutes left, they used a 17-5 run over an eight-minute span to take a commanding 17-point lead. Over the next few minutes, the Crusaders managed to get within thirteen points on multiple occasions, but each time Loyola answered eventually taking a 46-24 lead into the break.
Dylan Brumfield and
Zandon Haralson opened the second half with five straight points and over the next ten minutes both teams traded shot with Loyola maintain a comfortable lead. With Loyola leading 65-43 with just over ten minutes to play, the Crusaders made their move.
Cam Brown, Haralson, and Brumfield combining for a 16-7 run to cut the deficit to 13 points with
Ashton Campbell draining a three to make it a ten-point game with six minutes to play. However, that would be as close as they would get, as the Wolfpack countered with an 11-0 to pull away for good.
Cam Brown led the way, finishing with 17 points with
Dylan Brumfield adding 15 points.
Next up for the Crusaders will be the SSAC Championship being held in Montgomery, Ala. Feb. 26 – March 1 at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl. WCU will play Life University on Thursday at 10:45 am.
