Crusaders Fall to Loyola in SSAC Action

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The William Carey Men's Basketball Team wrapped up the regular season with an 83-65 loss to Loyola University Saturday afternoon.

Things went back and forth at the start, but with the Wolfpack leading 13-8 with fifteen minutes left, they used a 17-5 run over an eight-minute span to take a commanding 17-point lead. Over the next few minutes, the Crusaders managed to get within thirteen points on multiple occasions, but each time Loyola answered eventually taking a 46-24 lead into the break.

Dylan Brumfield and Zandon Haralson opened the second half with five straight points and over the next ten minutes both teams traded shot with Loyola maintain a comfortable lead. With Loyola leading 65-43 with just over ten minutes to play, the Crusaders made their move.

Cam Brown, Haralson, and Brumfield combining for a 16-7 run to cut the deficit to 13 points with Ashton Campbell draining a three to make it a ten-point game with six minutes to play. However, that would be as close as they would get, as the Wolfpack countered with an 11-0 to pull away for good.

Next up for the Crusaders will be the SSAC Championship being held in Montgomery, Ala. Feb. 26 – March 1 at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl. WCU will play Life University on Thursday at 10:45 am.
