Lady Crusaders Pick Up 6-0 Win Over Thomas

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Lady Crusaders wrapped up their Georgia road trip with a 6-0 victory over Thomas University Saturday afternoon.

Just six minutes into the contest and Carey had the lead on a Karen Vilau goal. Lauren Entremont collected the loose ball at the top of the 18 and with one touch played Vilau who then drove to left of the six-yard box. The Nighthawk defender pushed Vilau towards the end line, but Vilau managed to get around her and fired just over the top of the Thomas keeper.

Ten minutes later WCU had a two-goal lead. Argentina Estrada played a long ball over the top to the left side of the goal for Entremont who took one touch and shot. The Thomas keeper was in the right spot for the save but could not corral the ball as it fell right to the feet of Natoya Atkinson for the tap in.

Over thirty minutes passed before Carey found the back of the net again to take a 3-0 lead into the break. Kokona Nishikawa received the ball in the middle of the field and played the ball forward for Raquel Diaz. Diaz then slipped past the Nighthawks defense, and after one touch, deposited the ball into the back of the net.

The Lady Crusaders picked up where they left off in the first half, picking up their fourth goal just nine minutes after the interval. Livia Pertl played a brilliant ball over the top to Vilau who beat her defender before dribbling around the Nighthawk keeper for the easy goal.

Carey put the finishing touches on the contest with goals less than two minutes apart starting in the 75th minute. After Vilau stole the ball on the far side, she drove towards the middle and found Diaz. Diaz made her way towards goal, and from twenty yards out, placed her shot into the top right corner.

The final goal of the contest came off the foot of Entremont. Boo Mills played the ball ahead to the far post. As Entremont and Thomas' keeper broke towards the ball it was Entremont who got there first, and with a little flick, popped the ball over the keeper to seal the victory.

Carey returns to action Saturday, October 11, as they return home to take Mobile in SSAC play. Kick-off is slated for 1:30 pm at Danny Owens Field.
