Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Crusaders Blow Past Point University

WEST POINT, Ga. – The Crusaders were all business Saturday afternoon, defeating Point University 5-0.

Ten minutes in, Daniel Mulero received a header from Niall Lovelock right in front of the goal. After two quick touches to bring the ball under control, Mulero placed the shot in the bottom right corner.

The game went quiet until the 18th minute when the Crusaders came alive again. Mulero played a brilliant pass, splitting the Point defense. Santiago Molina slipped past the Skyhawk defense for a one-on-one opportunity. Skyhawk keeper Clemens Budde came charging out to intercept the ball, but Molina was one step quicker, chipping the ball over the keeper into the empty net.

With under two minutes remaining in the half, Molina picked up his second goal of the contest. Rico Duggan lofted a high cross to the middle where he found Molina. With one touch, catching Budde off guard, Molina sent the ball into the upper left corner to make it 3-0 Carey heading into the break.

The game went quiet once again to start the second half, with little action being created by either team. In the 70th minute, Marc Guerrero made a quick pass to Teddy Miranda running up the right side. Miranda drove towards the corner, crossing the ball to Pedro Sao Tiago who slipped past the Point defense, and with one touch of his left foot, snuck the ball just inside the left post.

Putting the finishing touches on the contest was Felix Rocca. Diego Sammur played the ball over the top for Rocca who was off to the races, already passed the defense. The only person left to beat was Budde and he did just that with his shot finding the back of the net.

Carey is back in action Thursday, October 30, as they host a quarter-final match of the SSAC Championship. Time and opponent to be decided at the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday, October 26th.
