HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Women's Soccer Team got their offense going in the second half to defeat Xavier University 5-1 Sunday evening at
Danny Owens Field.
Despite out shooting the Gold Nuggets 10 -4 in the first half, it was XULA that took the early lead with a goal in the 25
th minute. Carey came out of the break and quickly pressed the attack and just six minutes in,
Christina Salmon netted the equalizer.
The Lady Crusaders kept up the pressure and in the 66
th minute Esalenna Galekhutle put Carey up for good. The final three goals of the match came between the 70
th and 80
th minutes from
Kristina Decker,
Virginia Mesa, and
Valeria Barajas.
The Lady Crusaders are back in action Thursday, August 29, as they take on Louisiana Christian. Kick-off is slated for 5:00 pm at
Danny Owens Field.
