JACKSON, Tenn. – The William Carey Baseball Team defeated Point University 8-2 Friday night at Rockabillys Stadium to wrap up pool play in the SSAC Baseball Championship.
Carey would get a run in the second inning on a passed ball and would hold that lead until the seventh. In the seventh, Point would break through the armor of starting pitcher
Connor Adams and take the lead with two runs on four hits.
However, the lead would be short lived as the Crusaders answered with five runs on six hits in the bottom half of the inning.
Jerod Williams started the scoring in the inning with a single to left center to score
Caleb Laird.
RJ Stinson would drive in
Kris Jones with
Bridley Thomas following with a two RBI double to make it 5-2 WCU.
Preston Ratliff would cap the scoring in the inning with a sac fly to center. The Crusaders would the game away with two runs in the eighth.
Connor Adams picked up the win on the mound allowing two runs on eight hits in seven innings work.
Carey is back in action Saturday, May 4, as they face-off against Blue Mountain Christian in the Championship Game. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 pm at Rockabillys Stadium.
