DECATUR, Ala. – The William Carey Softball Team opened up the 2024 SSAC Softball Championship with a 6-2 victory over Blue Mountain Christian Thursday afternoon at Wilson Morgan Softball Complex.
Carey took an early 3-0 lead with runs in the first three innings of play.
Dee Dee West drove in the first run of the game with a double to left center and in the second inning
Brooke Tanner drove in
Kinley Hogue.
In the third inning, Susie Lebert would score
Rachel Rodriguez and in the fifth, LeBert would drive in two with
Albanie Fussell giving Carey a six run lead on a RBI single. BMCU would get two runs in the sixth on a defensive miscue by the Lady Crusaders but
Ryanne Hornsby was able to work around the miscue to preserve the win.
Carey is back in action tomorrow as they take on Faulkner University. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 am.
