HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Baseball Team opened up a three game home stand against Brewton-Parker with an 11-5 victory over the Barons Friday night at Milton Wheeler Field.
Carey would surrender the first run of the game in the first inning but answered in the bottom half of the inning with three runs to take the lead for good.
Bailee Hendon would drive in
Jake Lycette with a double to leftcenter to tie the game with
Caleb Laird plating the other two runs of the inning on a single to left.
The Crusaders would extend their lead to four runs in the second on a two RBI single to right by Lycette and take a commanding 9-1 lead in the fourth. Lycette would get things going, scoring
RJ Stinson on a double to left with Hendon plating two with a double down the leftfield line. The final run of the frame would come on a sac fly by
Brady Wilson.
The Barons would pick up three runs in the seventh but in the bottom of the inning Stinson would score the final runs of the game with a two run homerun to left.
Carey is back in action tomorrow, as they wrap up the series against Brewton-Parker with a double header. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 pm at Milton Wheeler Field.
