HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Baseball Team completed the sweep over Stillman, rallying from four runs down to defeat the Tigers 10-7, Saturday afternoon at Milton Wheeler Field.
Carey took an early 3-0 lead in the first on a
Caleb Laird two RBI single to left and a RBI single by
Billy Garrity. The Tigers would get run back in the second and cut the deficit to 3-2 with a run the third. Stillman would go on to take the lead in the fourth with two runs and would stretch their lead to 7-3 with three runs in the fifth.
Carey would get one in the sixth on a sac fly by
Jake Lycette and in the seventh tie the game with three runs with
Brady Logan,
Ty Little, and
Bridley Thomas picking up the RBIs. The Crusaders would complete the comeback and take the lead for good in the eighth inning with three runs.
The first two runs of the inning would come from defensive miscues with
RJ Stinson driving in the final run on a double down the left field line.
John Snyder would come on in relief in the ninth and would retire the side in order to seal the victory.
Carey is back in action Friday, April 5, as they take on Brewton-Parker College in conference action. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm at Milton Wheeler Field.
