HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Baseball Team picked up a non-conference win over NCAA foe West Alabama, defeating the Tigers 8-3 Tuesday evening at Milton Wheeler Field.
Carey would take the lead in the first on a two run shot by
Bridley Thomas and would make it 3-0 after three consecutive hit by pitches in the third. UWA would get within one in the sixth but the Crusaders responded in the bottom half of the inning with five runs on five hits.
Bailee Hendon would follow a leadoff double by
Jake Lycette with a two run homerun to make it 5-2 WCU.
Brady Logan would score
Caleb Laird with a single to left center with a bases loaded walk by
RJ Stinson scoring the fourth run of the inning. With the bases still loaded, Thomas would plate the final run of the inning on a hit by pitch.
Connor Adams would get the win, going 5.1 innings allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
Carey is back in action Friday, March 29, as they take on Stillman College in SSAC action. First pitch of the double header is scheduled for 3:00 pm at Milton Wheeler Field.
