Lady Crusaders go 2-1 on Florida Road Trip

AVE MARIA, Fla. – The William Carey Beach Volleyball Team picked up wins over Florida Memorial and St. Thomas but fell to Ave Maria over the weekend to improve to 3-2 on the season.
 
On Friday against the Lions, Elaina Anderson/Sammie Wilson took the win at flight two 21-17, 17-21, 15-8 to put Carey up 1-0.  FMU evened the match with a win at flight four and would take the lead with a win in flight three.
Maycee Gross/Jacey Garriga tied the match, posting a 21-11 win in both sets in flight five.  The flight one pair of Marcella Hermont/Gabriela Maceira secured the 3-2 victory for Carey, winning in three sets (22-20, 15-21, 15-9).
 
Against the Bobcats on Saturday, STU took the point at flight four but Anderson/Wilson evened things with a 21-17, 21-14 win in flight two.  The duo of Garriga/Gross took the win in flight five with Hermont/Maceira and Barbara Guedes/Lia Ramos Bonilla posting wins in flight one and three for the 4-1 victory.
 
The magic would run out in the final match of the weekend, as the Gyrenes swept all five flights.
 
The Lady Crusaders are back in action Friday, March 15, as they host the Northeast Pod at Southern Miss.  They will take on St. Andrews at 12:00 pm and Truett-McConnell at 4:00 pm.
