PINEVILLE, La. – The William Carey Softball Team split a midweek matchup against Louisiana Christian, falling in game one 4-2 but picking up a 10-0 run rule victory in game two Tuesday afternoon at Wildcat Field.
Carey would build a 2-0 lead, picking up a run in the third on a
Carley Kidder RBI double to left and a RBI by
Brooke Tanner in the fifth. However, starting pitcher
Ryanne Hornsby would run into trouble in the sixth, as the Wildcats plated four runs on three and two errors to take the lead for good.
Game two was much different, as the Lady Crusaders put up eight runs in the first three innings. Kidder drove in the first run of the game on a double to center with
Dee Dee West scoring
Rachel Rodriguez.
Lilli Robertson would cap the scoring in the first with an RBI groundout.
A throwing error in the second would score
Madison Prejean with Rodriguez making 5-0 on a single up the middle. Carey would continue to stretch their lead in the third, as
Magen Caro scored two on a single with a defensive miscue making it 8-0.
The Lady Crusaders would add the final two runs runs of the game in the fifth on two hits and two errors.
Kate Schroeder picked up the win going all five innings allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.
Carey is back in action Friday, March 22, as they take on Thomas University in SSAC action. First pitch is scheduled 2:00 pm at Joseph & Nancy Fail Field.
