TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The William Carey Softball Team split a mid-week conference match-up against Stillman College, falling in game one 2-1 but rebounding to take game two 3-1.
In game one, the Tigers got on the board in the first inning on a sac fly with
Dee Dee West tying the game in third on a double to left. The game would remain tied until the sixth when Stillman would push across the game winning run.
In game two, it would be the Lady Crusaders that would get on the board in the first inning on a RBI by
Carley Kidder. The 1-0 lead would hold until the fifth, when Carey would extended their lead, as Kidder picked up her second RBI of the game on a single to right with a sac fly by
Susie LeBert making it 3-0 WCU.
After getting one run back in the bottom of the fifth, the Tigers would threaten in the seventh getting two runners on base with one out but relief pitcher
Ryanne Hornsby would retire the first two batters she faced to seal the victory and earn the save.
Carey is back in action Tuesday, March 19, as they travel to Pineville, La. to take on Louisiana Christian. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
