Lady Crusaders Sweep LSU-Alexandria

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Softball Team swept LSU-Alexandria with a pair of run rule victories, taking game one 10-2 and game two 11-0 Wednesday afternoon at Joseph & Nancy Fail Field.

The Generals took the early lead with two runs in the top of the first but it would be short lived, as Carey would take the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning.  Carley Kidder would get things going with an RBI single to left.  A bases loaded walk by Magen Caro would tie the game with a wild pitch capping the scoring the scoring in the inning.

WCU would add a run in the second and fourth to take a 5-2 lead and would seal the victory with five runs in the fifth.  Rachel Rodriguez would plate the first run inning with Kidder driving in two on a single to right.  Susie LeBert would make it 9-2 on a RBI single up the middle with the final run of the game coming on a wild pitch.

The Lady Crusaders carried the momentum over into game two taking an early 6-0 lead after two innings of play.  In the first inning, Kidder continued her strong day at the plate driving in the first run of the inning.  LeBert would make it 2-0 WCU with a double down the leftfield line with a bases loaded walk scoring the third run.

Madison Prejean would score the final runs of the inning on a two RBI single to center and in the second inning a sac fly by Caro would make it 6-0 WCU.  The Lady Crusaders would extend their lead in the third with two runs and would finish things off in the fourth with RBIs by Ryanne Hornsby (2) and Brooke Tanner for the final margin.
