MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The William Carey Men's Basketball season came to an end, as they fell to Mobile 85-68 in the quarter-finals of the SSAC Championships Thursday night, at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl.
Things went back and forth to open the game but with just 15 minutes remaining in the half the Rams slowly started to pull away, building a double digit lead on multiple occasions. The Crusaders continued to work and a three pointer by
Earl Smith with under five left would get WCU to within three points at 31-28. However, Mobile would close the half on a 9-5 run to take a 40-33 lead into the break.
Coming out the break, the UM offense wasted no time in taking control of the game behind a 16-3 run and the Crusaders could never recover.
Carey finishes the season with an overall record of 18-10 and a 13-7 record in conference play.
