NEW ORLEANS, La. – Coming off a 3-0 weekend down in Alexandria, La., the William Carey Women's Tennis team took care of business, with a 4-3 victory over Dillard University Thursday afternoon.
Tiffany Chang and
Sunny Logan got things going for Carey with a 6-1 victory at #1 doubles. The Blue Devils evened things up with a win at #3 doubles but
Victoria Vieten and
Isabella Lechuga secured the doubles points with a 6-4 victory at the #2 spot.
In singles, Dillard evened the match at one apiece taking the point at #4 singles but Logan put WCU back ahead with a 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory in the five spot. However, DU once again tied the match with a point in #6 singles.
Just like before though, Vieten put the Lady Crusaders back in front with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 victory at #1 singles. The Blue Devils would not go down without a fight and tied the match once again at three apiece, taking the point at #2 singles sending.
The match would come down to
Gia Posito (WCU) and Truc Tran (DU). Posito would have her hands full but would come through in the end with a 6-4, 6-4 victory to seal the win.
Carey is back in action Saturday, March 2, as they return home to take on Xavier University.
