TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The William Carey Women's Basketball team outlasted Stillman College Tuesday night to defeat the Tigers 53-50.
The Lady Crusaders and Tigers were locked in battle from the start but it would be Carey that would take a 12-10 into the second quarter. It was much of the same in the second but a three pointer by Stillman as expired would give SC a 25-24 lead heading into halftime.
Nothing would change coming out of the break, as the battle continued WCU would take a 36-32 lead with just over a minute to play but the Tigers would close the quarter on a 6-0 run to take the lead heading the fourth quarter.
Stillman would go on to build a six point lead on multiple occasions but the Lady Crusaders kept their focus and with a minute to play
Rose Warren would drain a three pointer to retake the lead for good. The Carey defense took care of the rest as they forced the Tigers last field goal attempts to miss their mark.
WCU is back in action Saturday, February 24, as they take on Loyola University in their final regular season home game. Tip-off is slated for 12:00 pm at Clinton Gym.
