COLUMBUS, Ga. – The William Carey Softball Team wrapped up play in the NFCA Leadoff Classic with an 18-6 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) Sunday afternoon.
The Carey offense was in full swing as they jumped all over the Red Wave. The Lady Crusaders took a 5-0 lead in the second thanks to RBIs by
Alex Davis,
Rachel Rodriguez (2), and
Carley Kidder (2) and followed up the five run second with a five third.
Davis picked up her second RBI of the game with a single to left and
Brooke Tanner followed with a two RBI single to center. Kidder capped the scoring in the inning with a single to left to pick up her third and fourth RBI of the game.
Calumet got their offense going in the fifth as they plated six runs on five hits and one error but WCU responded in the top of sixth with eight runs to put the game away.
Carey is back in action Tuesday, February 20, as they travel to New Orleans, La. to take on Xavier University. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
