HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Men's Basketball Team rebounded from a tough loss Thursday night with an 89-75 victory over Middle Georgia State Saturday afternoon at Clinton Gym.
Things were close at the start but with Carey leading 15-13 with 14 minutes left in the first half back to back three point baskets by
Ashton Campbell and
Zandon Haralson sparked the WCU offense to the tune of the Crusaders taking a 53-28 lead into the break.
WCU continued to maintain a comfortable lead for the majority of the second half. However, with under 10 minutes left to play, the Knights mounted a comeback, cutting the Carey lead to 71-60 with seven minutes remaining. But that would be as close as MGA would get, as the Crusaders answered with a 7-2 run and never looked back.
Dylan Brumfield finished the day with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists for a triple double while
Kaeden Laws led with 20 points.
Zandon Haralson added 16 points with
Ankerion Gross finishing with 12 points.
WCU is back in action Tuesday, January 9, as they travel to Pulaski, Tenn. to take on Tennessee Southern. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
