HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The William Carey Volleyball Team picked up their second straight SSAC win, defeating Brewton-Parker College in straight sets Saturday afternoon, at the Ben Waddle Complex.
The Lady Crusaders got off to a hot start in the first set, opening on an 11-4 run before stretching their lead to 16-7 and never looked backed, taking the set 25-12. It was a back and forth start to the second set but WCU caught fire, taking a commanding 20-8 lead behind a 15-3 run before taking the set 25-15.
Carey got off to a shaky start in the third set finding themselves trailing 8-4. However, the Lady Crusaders regained their footing and using a 13-2 run took control before going on to take the set 25-16 for the win.
Elaina Anderson and
Barbara Guedes finished with nine kills.
Avery Durdin finished with 15 assist while
Lia Romas Bonilla added 13.
WCU is back in action Tuesday, October 3, as they travel to Jackson Miss. to take on Tougaloo College in non-conference action. First serve is slated for 6:00 pm.
