BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – #12 William Carey Baseball completed the series sweep of Blue Mountain Christian with a 9-3 victory Sunday afternoon at Topper Field.
BMCU got on the board first with a run in the second inning but the Crusaders answered in the third with
Bobby Lada driving in
RJ Stinson to tie the game. WCU took the lead in the fourth on a Stinson sac fly and
Jake Lycette added to the Carey lead with a two RBI double to right to make it 4-1 WCU.
The Crusaders extended their advantage on a sac fly by
Kris Jones in the sixth and then put the game away with four runs in the seventh. Stinson drove in two with a double to left and Jones followed with a two RBI single to center. The Toppers managed to push across two runs in the eighth but relief pitcher
John Snyder shut down the threat and then worked a clean ninth to complete the sweep.
Dario Herrera picked up the win on the mound going six innings allowing one run on six hits with nine strikeouts.
Carey is back in action Thursday, April 27, as they wrap up the regular season with a three game series against SSAC foe Loyola University, First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm at Milton Wheeler Field.
